Memories from The Class of 1977
I remember:
My time spent in pep squad and choir. Life was good and so were we!!!!
We came as close as you can get to beating Permian....remember the snowbowl????
Spending the night in the fieldhouse to decorate it for the OHS/PHS pep rally ... squishing thru the muddy Pecos River on Senior Skip Day and then showing up for Senior Assembly rehearsal looking like mud people ... cruising up and down 42nd with, of course, frequent pit stops at the Coliseum parking lot ... Mother Morgan's Senior English class (1977 was the last year she taught before finally retiring; I always thought it rather poetic that I had Ms. Morgan in her final teaching year, and my own mother - class of '47 - had Ms. Morgan in her very first teaching year ... weird; remember when Ms. Morgan fell and broke her arm (trying to traverse a slippery ramp at Barrett Stadium after "The Great Snow Game")and she had to bring her sister to school to help her teach class for a while -- what a hoot -- since neither had ever been married and they looked/acted almost just alike, we had TWO Ms. Morgans to deal with! Well, I could keep going on and on, but you'll just have to buy the book!
I remember cruising O.H.S. at lunch- that was where I got my first ticket (expired inspection sticker!)! It seems like everyone came out of the parking lot and just drove around until the next class. Loud exhausts and the Eagles' "Life in the Fast Lane"- how did I manage to survive that?! Ah, the joys of being young!
My favorite memory would
have to be the game between OHS and Permian, and the closeness we all shared that year.
The good memories are too numerous, I could go on and on...... |
