???? | Mr. Bill
Dean....he taught happiness, team work, and independence Mr. Pomroy......he taught math, math, math and hope. Thank You for letting me part of your life...... My favorite teacher was Mrs. Bledsoe, she taught History, and was the best teacher I ever had, I would love to hear from her and see how she is doing--she is always in my heart. |
1958 | Forming the "Poor Boys" band and playing sock hops and assemblies. Once the R&R got so raucous that Esmer Dick and a girl got up to dance in the aisles. Mr. McMath shut down the assembly |
1959 | My favorite memories of OHS are the Swimming Team, the guys I got to swim with, and coach Pennock |
1960 | Miss Edna White's Latin classes and the end of year Roman banquets...2nd year students lying on cafeteria tables, served by 1st year "slaves." |
1962 | Basketball at its best as Dub
Malaise and his Dad, Coach Malaise took us to State. Then we had Coach Hayden Fry who went
on to be the head coach of Iowa State for a hundred years. We had some very special
teachers that I have never forgotten. Mr. Bice, I finally got Shakespeare and have become
a writer myself. Ms Gentry, I am writing the story of my own family history, and I still
vote in every election as you insisted we must do. Mr. Vasbinder, I learned to appreciate
government even though it is run by "politicians". A very wise Indian Holy Man
taught me, as you did, that the most important Government is your own community. Mrs.
Taliferro: I am sorry about Geometry Class.... I still don't get it! I remember Mrs. Gentry's wonderful history classes |
1965 | My mentor Mrs Trawick, librarian at OHS made a profound impact on my life. Mrs Rita Cox helped give me skills that I have used for the last 35 years. |
1966 | Having Miss Smooth as a P.E teacher |
1971 | Mr. Gunn's Chemistry Class ! |
1975 | Favorite memories of OHS: 1. Being part of the OHS Band and learning how to be a teacher from Mr. Dean. 2. Learning how to have high standards from Ms. Manitzas. Mrs. Bane's Trig, E.A. and A.G. classes |
1976 | My choir classmates from Crockett Junior High through Odessa High with Mrs. Dixon |
1977 | Mother Morgan's Senior English class (1977 was the last year she taught before finally retiring; I always thought it rather poetic that I had Ms. Morgan in her final teaching year, and my own mother - class of '47 - had Ms. Morgan in her very first teaching year ... weird; remember when Ms. Morgan fell and broke her arm (trying to traverse a slippery ramp at Barrett Stadium after "The Great Snow Game")and she had to bring her sister to school to help her teach class for a while -- what a hoot -- since neither had ever been married and they looked/acted almost just alike, we had TWO Ms. Morgans to deal with! |
1979 | Mr. Vasbinders Govt class |
1980 | The teachers treated us like individuals. Raymond Starnes and Diane Sandoval my heros! |
1981 | My favorites teachers were Ms. Susan Horak - Homemaking and Ms. Peggy Price - Social Studies. Those two cracked me up and were alot fun to be around. :) |
1986 | Mrs. Duncan--I became an
English teacher!!! Thank you! Senior Principal Gilbert Vasquez and his magic apple... |
1987 | My favorite memories of teachers at OHS are of Mr. Vasbinder's government class.. Also Mr. Cleghorn's English class ..he always wrote the test questions on the blackboard, and was always mad about something !! :) Mrs. Bland's speed reading class was one of my favorites. She was such a special teacher. But I think the best memory I have is that we had the best-looking coaches !!! Whew !! |
1995 | Coach Baucoum ruled! |
1996 | Honors English class....sophmore-senior year & Mrs. Jewell |
